Swarm

During a swarm, the player has a 50% chance of encountering the swarming Pokémon, and a 50% chance that their encounter is taken from the normal encounter table, effectively halving all normal encounter rates. Swarms can be shared between players by mixing records.

To activate a swarm, the player must first defeat the Elite Four. Every battle the player engages in after that has approximately a 0.5% chance to start a swarm. The player must learn about the swarm on the TV the following day to activate it, and it will last until the end of the next day.

Potentially due to a bug, only one swarm can ever be generated on a single save file without record mixing.
