The Pal Park is used to transfer Pokémon from any Game Boy Advance title (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, and LeafGreen) into any of Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver, using the Game Boy Advance slot that existed on older models of the DS. After transferring up to six Pokémon, the player can catch them in the Pal Park in a minigame called the Catching Show. Pokémon transferred to the Pal Park can never be returned to any Game Boy Advance game.
Pokémon can only be transferred if the Game Boy Advance title they are coming from has the same language as the DS game they are transferring to. The exception is Korean; players with a Korean copy of a DS game can transfer from Japanese and English copies of Game Boy Advance games. Pokémon that know HM moves cannot be transferred.
In Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, Pokémon can only be transferred from a given Game Boy Advance game once per 24-hour period. This is not the case in HeartGold and SoulSilver. There exist several workarounds, however; see the Bulbapedia page for more details.
The outdoor location at which the player catches the transferred Pokémon has a few different biomes, and transferred Pokémon will only appear in one biome. See the table below the Items section for details on which biomes contain which Pokémon.
The player will receive a random Berry upon finishing the Catching Show. Which Berry they receive is dependent on their score.
