How Many Pokémon Can You Get Without Evolving or Breeding in Pokémon Crystal?
The player can get up to 206 species total in Crystal without trading, as described here. Without evolving or breeding any Pokémon, and only collecting evolutionary stages that the player can get in the wild, as a gift or purchase, or from an in-game trade, the player can get up to 164 species. The Pokémon unavailable without evolving or breeding are as follows:

- Raichu, Nidoqueen, Nidoking, Clefable, Wigglytuff, Vileplume, Arcanine, Poliwrath, Victreebel, Cloyster, Exeggutor, Starmie, Eevee's evolutions, Bellossom, and Sunflora are inaccessible.
- Baby Pokémon (5) - 24 total
- Without the ability to breed, five of Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Smoochum, Elekid, and Magby are inaccessible.
- Other (18) - 42 total

With access to the Celebi that can be obtained in the Virtual Console rereleases of Crystal, the player can get a total of 165 Pokémon.
