Gold, Silver, and Crystal Evo Item Locations

The following lists and table contain the location of all evolutionary items and the Everstone in Gold, Silver, and Crystal.

Bug-Catching Contest

Sun Stones can be obtained for winning first place in the Bug-Catching Contest.
Everstones can be obtained for winning second place.

Bill's Grandfather

Bill's grandfather on Route 25 will give away a stone when he is shown a Pokémon. These can only be obtained once.

• Everstone for Lickitung
• Leaf Stone for Oddish
• Water Stone for Staryu
• Fire Stone for Growlithe (Gold and Crystal) or Vulpix (Silver)
• Thunderstone for Pichu

Wild Pokémon

Some wild Pokémon can hold evolution items. The item can be obtained by capturing the Pokémon or using Thief.

• Wild Clefairy have a 2% chance of holding a Moon Stone.
• Wild Geodude and Graveler have a 2% chance of holding an Everstone.
• Wild Magnemite have a 2% chance of holding a Metal Coat.
• Wild Poliwhirl, Slowpoke, and Slowbro have a 2% chance of holding a King's Rock.
• Wild Horsea, Seadra, Dratini, and Dragonair have a 2% chance of holding a Dragon Scale.

Mystery Gift

Leaf, Water, Fire, and Thunderstones can be obtained via Mystery Gift. From what I know, the chance appears to be incredibly low, around 0.2%.

Player's Mother

If the player's mother saves 15000, she will purchase a Moon Stone for the player. This can only be obtained once.

Pokégear Calls

In Crystal only, Picnicker Gina, Fisher Tully, Schoolboy Alan, and Lass Dana can give away Leaf, Fire, Water, and Thunderstones, respectively, if their phone numbers are registered in the Pokégear.

Trainer Pokémon Held Items

In Crystal only, Cooltrainer Gaven's Kingler holds a King's Rock starting from his second rematch. This can be stolen with Thief.

In-Game Trade

In Crystal only, the Magneton that the player can receive in a trade in the Power Plant holds a Metal Coat.

In the Overworld
