Gold, Silver, and Crystal Evo Item Locations

The following lists and table contain the location of all evolutionary items and the Everstone in Gold, Silver, and Crystal.

Sun Stones can be obtained for winning first place in the Bug-Catching Contest.
Everstones can be obtained for winning second place.

Bill's grandfather on Route 25 will give away a stone when he is shown a Pokémon. These can only be obtained once.

Some wild Pokémon can hold evolution items. The item can be obtained by capturing the Pokémon or using Thief.

Wild Clefairy have a 2% chance of holding a Moon Stone.
Wild Geodude and Graveler have a 2% chance of holding an Everstone.
Wild Magnemite have a 2% chance of holding a Metal Coat.
Wild Poliwhirl, Slowpoke, and Slowbro have a 2% chance of holding a King's Rock.
Wild Horsea, Seadra, Dratini, and Dragonair have a 2% chance of holding a Dragon Scale.

Leaf, Water, Fire, and Thunderstones can be obtained via Mystery Gift. From what I know, the chance appears to be incredibly low, around 0.2%.

If the player's mother saves 15000, she will purchase a Moon Stone for the player. This can only be obtained once.

In Crystal only, Picnicker Gina, Fisherman Tully, School Kid Alan, and Lass Dana can give away Leaf, Fire, Water, and Thunderstones, respectively, if their phone numbers are registered in the Pokégear.

In Crystal only, Cooltrainer Gaven's Kingler holds a King's Rock starting from his second rematch. This can be stolen with Thief.

In Crystal only, the Magneton that the player can receive in a trade in the Power Plant holds a Metal Coat.
