Completing the Pokédex With Generations 3 and 4 (Pokémon SoulSilver)
There are 493 Pokémon in SoulSilver's Pokédex. Only 484 are needed to get the certificate from the Game Freak employee in Celadon City: the ones that can be missed are Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus. This page focuses on getting these 484 Pokémon.
At minimum, the player will need access to one of the following sets of games:
- Diamond, Pearl, SoulSilver, Emerald, and either HeartGold or FireRed (5 games); this is the fewest number of games that can be used to complete the Pokédex, but requires that the player have access to a DS that can be used with Pal Park.
- Diamond, Pearl, HeartGold, and SoulSilver (4 games); this does not require dual-slot functionality, but the player will not be able to get the three Hoenn Regis and Regigigas without access to events. If a DS that can be used with Pal Park is obtainable, the player can add any Hoenn game, which makes this option require 5 games.
