The Sky

Access to:
All outdoor areas in Hoenn can be accessed from the sky. Several areas can only be accessed from the sky; they are given in a list below.

Utility:
The Soaring ability is required to access the sky, which requires the Eon Flute, obtained from Steven in Sootopolis City.

In addition to being able to fly to any outdoor area of Hoenn, the player can also access hidden areas known as Mirage Spots while flying.

At midnight every day, a Mirage Spot will appear. Additional Mirage Spots can be obtained by interacting with other players via StreetPass; Mirage Spots obtained this way last until the end of the current day. Mirage Spots have predetermined locations, which are listed below in regards to their location on the Hoenn map.

Regular Mirage Spots are divided into four groups: Mirage Islands, Mirage Forests, Mirage Caves, and Mirage Mountains. These each have eight possible locations, and have different items and Pokémon depending on the location. The links in the table below link to the Mirage Spot's page, specifically the section containing information related to the area.

Although it contains a legendary Pokémon, Crescent Isle, south of Ever Grande City, is grouped with the regular Mirage Spots, and thus appears randomly at the beginning of a day.

Several Mirage Spots that contain legendary Pokémon can also be accessed from the sky. These Mirage Spots require the player to have met certain conditions in order to access; these aren't affected by the day the same way the others are. These special Mirage Spots are:

Finally, some legendary Pokémon can be found in the sky itself under certain conditions; those Pokémon and their conditions are given below.
