Professor Elm's Lab: The machine in the Lab will heal the player's Pokémon when interacted with.
Player's Mother: The player's mother can save money received from battling Trainers. She will also purchase items with it. In international versions, speaking to her will allow changing the clock to or from Daylight Savings Time.

Utility:
Surf is required to travel to Route 27 in the east. Wild Pokémon can also be encountered here with Surf.

Player's Mother's Purchases

If the player chooses to save money with the player's mother, the player's mother will buy items for the player when the amount she has saved reaches a certain amount. Each of the following items will only be purchased once.

If the conditions to purchase one of the above items are not met, but the player's savings are an exact multiple of 2300, the player's mother will instead purchase a random one of the below items. Once an item has been purchased at a given multiple of 2300, the player's mother will never purchase an item at that multiple again, even if the player withdraws savings.
