Completing (Half of) the Pokédex With Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (Pokémon Alpha Sapphire)
Alpha Sapphire has two separate Pokédexes to complete: the Hoenn Pokédex and the National Pokédex. The Hoenn Pokédex corresponds to the Dex in the original Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald games (all Hoenn Pokémon and a handful from Kanto and Johto, for a total of 202), with the addition of Gallade, Probopass, Magnezone, Budew, Roserade, Dusknoir, Chingling, Rhyperior, and Froslass.
The National Pokédex consists of the Hoenn Pokédex plus all other Pokémon introduced between generations 1 and 6. All Pokémon from the Hoenn Pokédex, except for the event-exclusive Jirachi, are available between Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
Although a large number of Pokémon in the National Dex can be obtained, there are many that are missing, making it impossible to complete the National Pokédex with access to only those two games. This page will show the maximum number of Pokémon that can be obtained.
The maximum number of Pokémon you can get this way is 477.

Mutually Exclusive Pokémon
Several Pokémon are mutually exclusive, meaning that if you get one species, you cannot get at least one other species. The list of mutually exclusive species is below.
- Treecko/Grovyle/Sceptile, Torchic/Combusken/Blaziken, Mudkip/Marshtomp/Swampert
- Chikorita/Bayleef/Meganium, Cyndaquil/Quilava/Typhlosion, Totodile/Croconaw/Feraligatr

- Lileep/Cradily, Anorith/Armaldo
You will need at minimum three separate save files to get each of these starters. Each save file will pick four different starters from this list, and they can be bred and traded as needed. Two save files will also need to pick different Fossils.
Trade Evolutions
17 Pokémon evolve by trading: Golem, Machamp, Alakazam, Kingdra, Huntail, Gorebyss, Rhyperior, Dusknoir, Slowking, Steelix, Electivire, Magmortar, Porygon2, Porygon-Z, Gigalith, Conkeldurr, and Trevenant. The easiest way to get data for them is to trade them to another game and immediately trade the newly-evolved Pokémon back.
You will need one Dragon Scale, one Deep Sea Tooth, one Deep Sea Scale, one Protector, one Reaper Cloth, one King's Rock, one Metal Coat, one Electirizer, one Magmarizer, one Up-Grade, and one Dubious Disc to evolve Kingdra, Huntail, Gorebyss, Rhyperior, Dusknoir, Slowking, Steelix, Electivire, Magmortar, Porygon2, and Porygon-Z.
