Battle Arena

The Battle Arena is one of seven facilities located in the Battle Frontier, accessible only in Emerald. The Frontier Brain here is Greta.

Modes

The Battle Arena only allows for Single Battles. The player can enter three Pokémon.

Mechanics

Gimmick

Neither the player nor the opponent is allowed to switch Pokémon, and Pokémon will always be sent out in the order they are listed in the party. The two Pokémon on the field will engage in three turns' worth of combat. At the end of three turns, if neither Pokémon has fainted, the game will judge which Pokémon performed better using criteria listed below. The winning Pokémon stays on the field for the next round, and the losing Pokémon faints.

If either Pokémon faints before three turns are up, the next Pokémon will be sent out, and the next round begins.

Frontier Brain

The Frontier Brain, Greta, appears first after 28 battles and again after 56. After defeating her the second time, she will appear every 28 battles with her Gold Symbol team. Her Pokémon have 20 IVs in her Silver Symbol battle and 31 in her Gold Symbol battle. The gender and Ability of her Pokémon are random. Her teams are as follows:

Battle Points

The player's received Battle Points will increment as shown in the table below. 'Round' here refers to a set of seven battles. An additional 10 points are added to the below values every time the player faces and defeats Greta. 15 is the maximum (though it becomes 25 if the player faces Greta).
