In Ruby and Sapphire, Pokémon with the Pickup ability have a 1% chance of picking up King's Rocks.

In Ruby and Sapphire's Battle Tower, the player can receive a Leftovers, White Herb, Quick Claw, Mental Herb, Brightpowder, Choice Band, King's Rock, Focus Band, or Scope Lens as a reward for completing a set of 7 battles, so long as the player's total streak is 42 wins or more.
In Emerald, several held items can be purchased at the rightmost counter of the Exchange Service Corner in the Battle Frontier. These items are purchased with Battle Points (BP).

Some wild Pokémon can have held items. If the player captures the Pokémon, or uses Thief, Covet, or Trick, they can obtain the item. The list of wild Pokémon with held items or Berries is as follows:
The Latias or Latios that can be found at the event-only Southern Island always holds Soul Dew.
The wild Pokémon that can appear in Altering Cave are specifically coded to have a 5% chance of holding rare Berries, regardless of what their regular encounter data is. Their held Berries are as follows:
Some Trainers have held items on their Pokémon. If the player's Pokémon uses Thief, Covet, or Trick on the enemy Pokémon, and in the case of Thief and Covet does not have a held item, the user Pokémon will be able to obtain the enemy Pokémon's held item permanently.
