Walking

After obtaining the National Dex, the player can speak to Mr. Backlot inside the Pokémon Mansion. He will mention a species of Pokémon that he saw in the Trophy Garden, and that species will be added to the garden. If the player speaks to him again after 24 hours have passed, he will mention a second species, and that species will be added to the garden alongside the first species. If the player speaks to him a third time, the species of Pokémon he mentions will replace the first species that was placed in the garden, and so on. He will never mention a species of Pokémon that exists currently in the garden.

The first Pokémon added to the garden this way will replace slot 6 (in reference to the "Full" version of the encounter table above). When a second Pokémon is added, the first Pokémon will move to slot 7, and the second Pokémon will be placed in slot 6. Any subsequent Pokémon will be added to slot 6 first in this way. This has the effect of giving each special Pokémon a 5% chance and reducing the appearance rate of Pikachu and Pichu by 5% each. The Pokémon will have the same level as the slot that it replaces: 18 (slot 6) or 16 (slot 7) in Diamond and Pearl and 22 for both slots in Platinum.

Any Pokémon added to the garden this way will remain in the garden until the player replaces it by speaking to Mr. Backlot twice after it is added.
