Pokémon Ranger Series
The Pokémon Ranger games are a series of games released for the Nintendo DS between 2006 and 2010. In these games, the player character is a Pokémon Ranger, who can capture Pokémon by drawing loops around them (using the DS' touch screen) with their Capture Styler and use the Pokémon's abilities to clear obstacles, assist in captures, or complete missions. All three games had event distributions that gave them access to special missions that gave them special Pokémon, some of which could be sent wirelessly to original cartridge copies of the Nintendo DS games Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver.
The games were rereleased for the Wii U Virtual Console in 2016. However, these versions of the games cannot send their event Pokémon to any copy of a DS Pokémon game.
The following games are part of the series:
- Pokémon Ranger: This game was released in 2006 (outside of Europe) and 2007 (Europe) for the Nintendo DS and rereleased for the Wii U in 2016. 213 of the first 386 Pokémon can be obtained in this game, as well as a Manaphy egg with access to an event mission.
- Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia: This game was released in 2008 for the Nintendo DS and rereleased for the Wii U in 2016. 267 of the first 493 Pokémon can be obtained in this game, with an additional three being obtainable with access to event missions (for a total of 270).
- Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs: This game was relesed in 2010 for the Nintendo DS and rereleased for the Wii U in 2016. This game has two Browsers: the main story's Browser, which contains 301 of the first 493 Pokémon (plus an additional six with access to event missions), and the past missions Browser, which contains 222 of the first 493 (plus an additional one with access to event missions). The past missions of this game, although they can (almost) all be completed in single-player, are designed for multiplayer with up to four people using the wireless functionality of the DS.
