Game Boy Rewards

The original Nintendo 64 release of this game is compatible with copies of the Game Boy (Color) games Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal, and Pokémon from those games can be used in battles in Pokémon Stadium 2. Completing challenges can reward the player with bonuses that can be transferred back to a connected Game Boy (Color) game. This page shows the rewards that can be obtained.

The rerelease for Nintendo Switch cannot communicate with any copy of Red, Green, Blue, or Yellow, Gold, Silver, or Crystal, meaning these rewards either cannot be accessed or cannot be used.

Gym Leader Castle

Upon completion of Round 1 of the Gym Leader Castle, the player will be rewarded with a special Farfetch'd, which can be transferred into Gold, Silver, or Crystal. (It cannot be transferred into Red, Green, Blue, or Yellow because Baton Pass is not in those games.)

Move Relearner

Pokémon Stadium 2 provides access to a Move Relearner, who has the ability to teach a Pokémon from a Game Boy game a move that is in that species' level-up movepool at the same level or lower than the Pokémon's current level. This function did not exist naturally in Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, or Crystal. To access the Move Relearner's services, the following conditions must be met:

  1. The player must defeat the Elite Four and Champion in the Gym Leader Castle.
  2. The player must defeat them in a single sitting, without using the Suspend option.
  3. All six Pokémon on the player's team must come from a connected Game Boy (Color) game, and the Pokémon cannot be part of a registered team.

If these conditions are met, the player will be able to teach one of their team members a move with the Move Relearner after defeating the Champion.

Mystery Gift

The "Mystery Gift" mode, accessible from the main menu, allows for items and decorations to be sent to connected copies of Gold, Silver, and Crystal once per day (as tracked by the connected copy of Gold, Silver, or Crystal). The items and decorations the player can receive, and each item's appearance rate, are detailed here. Generally speaking, items fall into the following categories:

Using Mystery Gift with Pokémon Stadium 2 will also cause the trainer Carrie to appear at the Trainer House in Viridian City, where she will use one of the following teams at random:
