HeartGold and SoulSilver Evo Item Locations

The following lists and table contain the location of all evolutionary items, breeding items (incense), and the Everstone, in HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Pokéathlon Dome

Some evolutionary items can be purchased at the Pokéathlon Dome. The table below gives the days of the week, the price, and whether or not they are available before getting the National Dex.

Bug-Catching Contest

Before obtaining the National Dex, Sun Stones can be obtained for winning first place in the Bug-Catching Contest.
After obtaining the National Dex, any evolutionary Stone (Fire, Water, Thunder, Leaf, Moon, Sun, Shiny, Dusk, Dawn, Oval) can be obtained for winning first place.
Everstones can be obtained for winning second place.

Pokéwalker

Some evolutionary items can be found in Pokéwalker courses. The list is given below.

• Fire Stone - Warm Beach
• Sun Stone - Volcano Path and Amity Meadow
• Moon Stone - Volcano Path and Amity Meadow
• Water Stone - Beyond the Sea (held by Staryu)
• Moon Stone - Night Sky's Edge
• Thunderstone - Yellow Forest
• Dragon Scale - Winner's Path (held by Horsea)
• Reaper Cloth - Winner's Path (held by Duskull)
• Electirizer - Amity Meadow
• Magmarizer - Amity Meadow
• Oval Stone - Amity Meadow

Bill's Grandfather

Bill's grandfather on Route 25 will give away a stone when he is shown a Pokémon. These can only be obtained once.

• Everstone for Jigglypuff (HeartGold) or Lickitung (SoulSilver)
• Fire Stone for Growlithe (HeartGold) or Vulpix (SoulSilver)
• Leaf Stone for Oddish
• Thunderstone for Pichu
• Water Stone for Marill (HeartGold) or Staryu (SoulSilver)

Wild Pokémon

Some wild Pokémon can hold evolution items. The item can be obtained by capturing the Pokémon or using Thief, Covet, Trick, or Switcheroo.

• Wild Lunatone and Clefairy have a 5% chance of holding a Moon Stone.
• Wild Solrock have a 5% chance of holding a Sun Stone.
• Wild Horsea, Seadra, Dratini, and Dragonair have a 5% chance of holding a Dragon Scale.
• Wild Slowbro and Poliwhirl have a 5% chance of holding a King's Rock.
• Wild Magnemite, Magneton, Steelix, Beldum, Metang, Bronzor, and Bronzong have a 5% chance of holding a Metal Coat.
• Wild Geodude and Graveler have a 5% chance of holding an Everstone.
• Wild Chinchou, Lanturn, and Relicanth have a 5% chance of holding a DeepSeaScale.
• Wild Chansey have a 50% chance of holding an Oval Stone.

Pickup

Pokémon with the Pickup ability can find the following items:

• King's Rock: 1% chance between levels 11-30
• Sun Stone: 4% chance between levels 31-50, 10% between levels 51-100
• Moon Stone: 4% chance between levels 41-60, 10% between levels 61-100

Player's Mother

If the player's mother saves 15000, she will purchase a Moon Stone for the player. This can only be obtained once.

Pokégear Calls

Some Trainers can give away evolution stones if their phone numbers are registered in the Pokégear:

In-Game Trade

The Beldum that the player can receive in a trade in Silph Co. holds a Dawn Stone.
The Magneton that the player can receive in a trade in the Power Plant holds a Metal Coat.

Battle Frontier

In the Battle Frontier, the Razor Claw and Razor Fang can be purchased for 48 BP each.
