Access to:
North: Nimbasa City

Overview

Join Avenue is a street between Route 4 and Nimbasa City in Black 2 and White 2. It replaces the gate that stood there in Black and White.

The avenue starts out mostly empty, and the player will be in charge of customizing it. The player can customize the shops and facilities available in the avenue. The development is dependent on the people who appear here. Talking to a visitor allows the player to either invite them to open a shop or recommend one of the avenue's existing shops to them.

Visitors

A set number of people, called the player's fans, arrive at the avenue each day. The number depends on the avenue's rank and how much progress the player has made in the game's main story. After the player has defeated the Elite Four, the player's fans may occasionally include Gym Leaders. The avenue can hold at most twelve visiting fans at a time, and no fans will arrive on a day when the limit has already been reached, even if the player makes room later.

Other players with Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 can also visit the avenue once their game has been registered with the player's. Registration happens automatically during any connection between two games, such as the C-Gear's Tag Log, battles, trades, and interactions between Pokémon Dream World accounts. A visiting player appears as the Trainer class they chose on their Trainer Card, and their dialogue is based on either their own avenue dialogue or their Passerby Analytics answers and other information from their game. For a player to visit again, their game must be registered again after at least a day has passed.

Opening shops

To open a shop, the player invites a visitor, who then becomes a resident running a shop of their preferred type and variation. The avenue can hold at most eight shops; after that, the player must choose an existing shop to replace in order to open a new one.

Apart from the first visitor, Janus (whose shop type depends on the player's Trainer ID), each fan's shop type and variation is the same in every game, and their shop information is shown below. Real players' shop types and variations differ from player to player, but do not change between different instances of Join Avenue on different save files. Gym Leaders cannot be invited to open shops.

Some shop types have different variations, referred to as A, B, C, and D.

Shop recommendations

Instead of inviting a visitor to open a shop, the player can recommend one of the avenue's shops to them; the visitor then leaves. The visitor will tell the player what kind of shop they would like to visit, and the player is tasked with recommending the correct shop type. Successful recommendations earn popularity points for the recommended shop and for the avenue, which determine their ranks. The types of questions and correct answers can be found on Bulbapedia.

Souvenirs

When a visitor is spoken to, they have a chance of giving the player one of the items listed below, depending on the avenue's rank.

Avenue rank

Join Avenue and each of its shops gain popularity when the player successfully recommends shops to visitors. The avenue and each shop have their own ranks; the avenue starts at Rank 1 and maxes out at Rank 100, while the shops start at 1 and max out at 10. For each rank above 1, the prices of all items and services in the avenue's shops drop by one percent, up to a maximum discount of 40%.

Shop rank

A shop's rank determines the services it provides. At Rank 10, a shop will no longer gain popularity from successful recommendations, but these will still add to the avenue's overall rank. Each shop's service can only be used once per day, unless the shop ranks up during that day.

Whenever all eight shops on the avenue have reached Rank 10, a seven-day promotion will start, which discounts services past even the 40% maximum given from the avenue rank and gives Raffle Shops two draws instead of one. The promotion can be repeated by replacing any shop and raising the new shop's rank to 10.
