HeartGold and SoulSilver Held Item Locations

The following lists and table contain the location of all items that can have an effect on Pokémon when held, except for Berries (their locations can be found here. This page does not include Mail locations.

Pickup

Pokémon with the Pickup ability can find the following items:

• King's Rock: 1% chance between levels 11-30
• Iron Ball: 1% chance between levels 41-60
• Leftovers: 1% chance between levels 81-100

Pokéathlon Dome

Some held items can be purchased at the Pokéathlon Dome. The table below gives the days of the week, the price, and whether or not they are available before getting the National Dex.

Goldenrod and Celadon Game Corners

The following items can be purchased in the Goldenrod and Celadon Game Corners.

Player's Mother

The player's mother can purchase several held items for the player after the player has saved money with her. Each item can only be obtained once.

Battle Frontier

The following items can be purchased at the Battle Frontier.

Some held items can be found in Pokéwalker courses. The list is given below.

S.S. Aqua Captain

After the first voyage on the S.S. Aqua, speaking with the captain on subsequent voyages will give the player one of the 16 elemental Plates that they do not already have.

Wild Pokémon

Some wild Pokémon can have held items. If the player captures the Pokémon, or uses Thief, Covet, or Trick, they can obtain the item. The list of wild Pokémon with held items is as follows:

Some event-only Pokémon come with held items. The Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina that can be found at Sinjoh Ruins hold the Adamant, Lustrous, and Griseous Orbs, respectively. The Spiky-eared Pichu that can be found in Ilex Forest has a Zap Plate. Finally, the event-only Enigma Stone is used to acquire the Soul Dew for Latias and Latios.

Trainers' Pokémon

Some Trainers have held items on their Pokémon. If the player's Pokémon uses Thief, Covet, or Trick on the enemy Pokémon, and in the case of Thief and Covet does not have a held item, the user Pokémon will be able to obtain the enemy Pokémon's held item permanently. The list of Trainers with stealable held items is as follows:

In-Game Trade

The Machop that the player can receive in a trade in Goldenrod Department Store holds a Macho Brace.
The Steelix that the player can receive in a trade in Olivine Gym holds a Soothe Bell.
The Dodrio that the player can receive in a trade in Blackthorn City holds a Smoke Ball.
The Magneton that the player can receive in a trade in the Power Plant holds a Metal Coat.
