Courtyard Colosseum

This colosseum becomes available to the player after they clear Sunset Colosseum. In this colosseum, the player must defeat six Trainers, followed by the Colosseum Master, in Knockout Battles.

The player can use a Rental Pass with rental Pokémon or a custom Battle Pass with Pokémon from a connected copy of the DS games Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver.

The first time the player challenges this colosseum, they will have to face Double Battles, using the Level 30 Open ruleset, on Rank 3. After the colosseum has been completed for the first time, the player can fight through Ranks 4-8 in Single or Double Battles. Regardless of which battle type is chosen, winning on the selected rank will advance the rank by 1. After clearing all eight ranks, any subsequent challenges to this colosseum will always be Rank 8.

After the player completes Stargazer Colosseum the first time, the type of battle used in this colosseum changes to Survival Battle. The modes available for the Survival Battle challenge are Level 30 Open Singles, Level 30 Open Doubles, Level 50 All Singles, and Level 50 All Doubles. In this challenge, the player must defeat 100 Trainers in a row with a single Pokémon team. After each battle, the player will be able to spin a wheel to determine if their Pokémon get their HP, PP, status conditions, and/or used items recovered.

Once the Survival Battle ruleset has been unlocked, the player is not able to access the Knockout Battle ruleset again. This means that if the player wishes to complete Ranks 4-8 of the Knockout Battle ruleset, they must do so before completing Stargazer Colosseum for the first time.

In Knockout Battles, in Singles, the player and opposing Trainers all have six Pokémon, and must choose three to participate in the battle with. In Doubles, all Trainers have six Pokémon, and must choose four.
In Survival Battles, the player always uses all six Pokémon. Opposing Trainers start by using one Pokémon (Singles) or two (Doubles). Every ten battles, opposing Trainers add one more Pokémon to their teams, to a maximum of four (Singles) or six (Doubles).

The Pokémon that can be used by opposing Trainers differ depending on the level mode and battle type being played, and whether the player is playing Singles or Doubles. The links below will show the Pokémon pools used by each.

Completing this colosseum for the first time unlocks Stargazer Colosseum.

Rank 3 Trainers

The Trainers and their Pokémon seen during the player's first challenge always have the same moves and item, but random IVs and Natures.
