Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum Home
Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum were originally released between 2006 and 2009 for the Nintendo DS. The original cartridges are able to trade and battle with each other, and with the DS games HeartGold and SoulSilver, using the wireless capabilities of the DS. They can also use the DS' wireless capabilities to receive Pokémon from the Ranger series. They are also able to wirelessly communicate with the Nintendo Wii games Pokémon Battle Revolution and My Pokémon Ranch.
Using the Game Boy Advance slot of an original model DS, Pokémon from Ruby, Sapphire, & Emerald and FireRed & LeafGreen (and by extension, Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness) can be transferred into Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, although they cannot be returned to any Game Boy Advance or GameCube game. Using the wireless functionality of the DS, Pokémon from Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum can be sent to Black & White and Black 2 & White 2, although they cannot be returned from those games to Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, or SoulSilver.
The first 493 Pokémon in the National Pokédex are all programmed into the game. Between the three games, the player can access 150 Pokémon that are part of the Sinnoh Pokédex (209 in Platinum), as well as a wide variety of Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn Pokémon. Pokémon that are missing from these games can be traded in from HeartGold or SoulSilver, or transferred from Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, or LeafGreen.
