Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Pokémon Legends: Z-A was originally released in 2025 for the Nintendo Switch, with an upgraded version available for the Nintendo Switch 2. A paid DLC package called Mega Dimension, which introduces new mechanics and additional Pokémon, was released in December 2025. Although the game revolves around catching and battling Pokémon, the mechanics are very different from the main series' mechanics. The original cartridges and digital downloads are able to trade and battle with each other.

Compatible Pokémon can be transferred into Legends: Z-A from the Pokémon HOME application for the Nintendo Switch. Compatible Pokémon can be transferred into Pokémon HOME from the Switch games Let's Go Pikachu & Let's Go Eevee, Sword & Shield, Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, Legends: Arceus, and Scarlet & Violet, and from the mobile application Pokémon GO.

Using the Pokémon Bank application for the 3DS and connecting that application with Pokémon HOME, Pokémon from previous games can be transferred into Legends: Arceus. Pokémon can be sent into Bank from Ruby, Sapphire, & Emerald, FireRed & LeafGreen, Colosseum, XD: Gale of Darkness, Diamond, Pearl & Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, X & Y, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Sun & Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Red, Green, Blue, & Yellow (for the 3DS Virtual Console), and Gold, Silver, & Crystal (for the 3DS Virtual Console), meaning any compatible Pokémon originating in one of these games can be ultimately transferred into Legends: Z-A.

Pokémon can also be moved from Legends: Z-A into Pokémon HOME. However, Pokémon that have ever been in Legends: Z-A can only be moved into other copies of Legends: Z-A or Pokémon Champions.

232 Pokémon, including all of those initially introduced in X and Y and all of those capable of Mega Evolution as of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, are obtainable in this game. An additional 132 Pokémon were added in the Mega Dimension DLC as part of the Hyperspace Pokédex.

Pokémon HOME contains three Pokédexes that correspond with ones seen in Legends: Z-A: the Lumiose Pokédex, which consists of the first 230 Pokémon of the base game's Lumiose Pokédex; the Hyperspace Pokédex, which consists of the first 131 Pokémon of the Mega Dimension DLC's Hyperspace Pokédex; and the Mega Evolution Pokédex, which consists 81 of the 93 available Mega Evolutions (excluding those whose Mega Stones are event-only). If the player is able to complete all three of these Pokédexes in Pokémon HOME (which requires depositing or trading Pokémon such that the player has had one of all relevant Pokémon in HOME at some point, with all of them originating from Legends: Z-A, and with all Mega Stones in the player's bag's Mega Stone pocket), they can receive a shiny Volcanion.
